“Do or do not, there is no try.” – Yoda. “The Empire Strikes Back”
Yoda has a point and another follows from that. You cannot fail. No matter the situation, competitive or not, personal or not, public or private, you cannot fail.
Try new things, express an opinion, persuade someone. You cannot fail.
Humans are goal seeking entities. All of us come with an achievement need. All of us come up short sometimes. No matter. If we treat the absence of success as the end of the process, then we can fail. If we choose to treat it as a step along the way we cannot.
The rule is as Yoda describes. Its variations is Win or Learn.
Life is unlike school. Life gives the test before it teaches the material. If you accept failure then the lesson has been for nothing. You have paid the tuition but have taken nothing away. Learn from experience, it is too costly to ignore.
Win or Learn. There is always something for you.
In a time of New Year’s resolutions, an attitude refocus will make your resolutions lead to success regardless of the inevitable unforeseen variations. Walking to work every day is a fine but unreasonable goal. Life is variable. Focus on the lesson. It was too cold; you need new boots. I left it too late; get an alarm clock.
Fear of failure is debilitating. Fear of failure is the same as fear of new experiences and fear of learning. Fear limits you.
Feel joy in your achievements. Learn from the shortfalls. Be curious and grateful for the lessons. Life is good.
Happy New Year. May peace, joy and prosperity be ever in your life.
