Use Spring to Advantage

Today is Easter. It is beginning to seem like spring. Both Easter and Spring indicate a new start. Renewal. The beginning of something entirely new and possibly better.

We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise we harden. Goethe

It is easiest in the spring.

How do we do that? Most of us do it because the season changing makes us feel uplifted and energetic. That energy and excitement must be captured, focused and habit forming.

Some thoughts to begin.

Opportunities abound, but it takes hard work to bring them to fruition. Seek them while you are enthusiastic. Opportunity knocks but once, is the best case. Most of the time there is no knock. You need to go seeking opportunity.

Start with cleaning up some of the messes that each of us has accumulated. There are often good things in there and looking at them again with enthusiasm may move an abandoned project back onto the right path.

Out of clutter, find simplicity. From discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity. Albert Einstein

When you feel good, you have less fear. You can take some risk. Not many great projects have been risk-free. Use the energy of spring to put the risks and opportunities in perspective.

Spring enthusiasm does not last very long so it is wise to begin. You need nothing but your enthusiasm and energy and a little faith.

Eventually people discover that gathering opportunities is like high school. Suppose you want to date the brightest, most beautiful and kind girl in your class.

  1. Do you need to be good looking? It would help, but No.
  2. Do you need to have a car? It would help, but No.
  3. Do you need to be rich? It would help, but No.
  4. Do you need to be popular. It would help, but No.

There is however, one requirement that is non-negotiable. You do have to ask.

Will it always work when you ask. Probably not, but it will never work if you don’t ask. Ask any salesperson or any entrepreneur. It is a numbers game. Try enough things and some will work.  Try none and you will surprised how few situations work to your advantage.

Give yourself a chance. Use spring fever to do that.
